As aspiring media creators, it is important to showcase your work, which may not only bring you to more job opportunities, but clients and recognition, which is key for someone who wishes to produce content for an audience in the future. To build up and share your work, a collection of pieces were created, including a CV, cover letter and a website.

CV-

For an individual wanting a job in the media industry, their CV has got to be short and intriguing, capturing the best achievements and facts that they've got. To make mine, I used Microsoft Word Whilst creating my media friendly CV, I had to keep in mind that everything I write is to the point and interesting, rather than over worded, as one of the things that I've learnt throughout this process is that hiring managers do not take long to analyse what you've written, so it has got to be captivating. Moreover, I made a CV to present to others who I am and what I can offer with the knowledge and experience so far. Additionally, It lets me express my strengths and inform the employer on why I may be good for the job. The first example that I wrote was very plain and over-worded, after receiving constructive feedback. Furthermore, I also received further feedback by peers in terms of what kind of font is most appropriate to use, as there were some which would be hard to understand if my CV was ever printed out. To conclude, even though I faced multiple minor weaknesses (on the first draft) such as over writing and font style, I still managed to produce a decent media CV, knew beforehand that it has got to be written in a formal manner and learnt many valuable tips which will be in handy if I ever had to produce a CV again.

Cover letter -

The purpose of the cover letter is to introduce yourself to an organization, demonstrate your interest in the company or a specific vacancy, draw attention to your resume and motivate the reader to interview you
Often this letter is the first contact you have with a prospective employer.
Thus, the next thing I did was produce a cover letter, which included much more detail and gave you a chance to boast about all of your successes.
One key aspect I've learned was that it is helpful and effective to understand what the job requirements are,
as you can use that language in you cover letter, to present you as a good candidate which meets the specifications.
I wrote my cover letter for an application to a job in being a runner or editor assistant, as based off my previous research, these are one of the ways I can get myself up to the ultimate career
I also made sure to mention all the awards and projects I have got involved in thus far, as it will highlight my professionalism and passion for media. The purpose of producing a cover letter was to learn how the process of a job application works and what needs to be provided. To sum up, as I believe I had a successful cover letter, I could improve on the length of tit as it does not meet the factor of it being a page long.

Website -

To conclude my professional practice, I made a website which manifests the photography and editing work
I have completed so far. In my opinion, this is a great way of demonstrating your skills
and communicating with your audience. Moreover, by including a short bio, I am letting
the world know who I am and what I am proud of and hopefully this can help me with
networking and receiving job and project opportunities in the future. I used a free website called wix.com
which I believe is the best website for a creative individual as you can make it as personalised and
suited to you as you want, expressing your true colours. The successful aspects of my website is the
layout of it, as well as the colour scheme I used, making it look professional however still very creative.
As time goes on, I will embed more work into the website, however as of now it will stay minimal.
Moreover, I believe the font and functions used to navigate the viewer is very easy, therefore making the
website consumer friendly and easy to work. As of improvements, I need to finish uploading all of my
photography and film work as well as import reviews I have received by important figures when working with them,
which will make my website look very realistic and active.
