Another fashion photographer that inspires me is Horst Diekgerdes, Horst Diekgerdes is one of the country's most renowned fashion photographers, whose obscure, surprising and surreal images have been part of iconic ad campaigns and major magazines alike, from Dazed & Confused and Vogue to Miu Miu and Hermès. All of the brands he has taken pictures for are brands that i love and it encourages me to take photos like him. The photo is an example of Diekgerdes work, it was taken for Uniqlo for the 2010 season. What is like about this photo is the lighting he has used, he has used High key photography (Infinity lighting) i can tell that this is high key because the backdrop is white, and i can tell that there is two cone lights lighting the backdrop from each side (left and right) the purpose of him doing this is to light the backdrop white, there is also a backlight, this is very important because it brings the model forward which makes it the point of focus. This is the type of photography i would like in my concept because i can attract my target audience and the fact that the high key helps the model stand out, it is very helpful and effective, another thing i like about this work is the composition and framing, the model is standing right in the middle and isn't forcing a pose, the fact that the picture look all natural and hasn't been planned is better because it shows me that a pose is not necessary to make a picture look good.

Moving onto another Photographer that is really famous for his work is Mario Testino, Mario is a fashion portrait photographer, he is one of the best, if the best at fashion photography, Mario has taken pictures of very famous people, from Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, and Gisele Bundchen right down to Madonna, Lady Gaga, and Kylie Minogue. Mario has got amazing photography skills that brands such as Burberry, Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, and Versace has worked with him, these brands have had very successful exhibitions at galleries and museums. This photo has been taken by Mario Testino, this image is a portrait of a woman, Mario Testino has got a project/series called the towel series, this is a series of images with people in towels, Mario has got many images some are celebrities such as Justin Bieber. As seen Mario likes to take pictures that are almost naked, however this just goes to show the audience what fashion and portrait photography is, Mario wants to show that images that like this unique and effective and himself is perfect example why he can sell such amazing work like this. And for my concept i want to take ideas from Mario, and take photos that has never been seen before, either portrait or silhouette, i chose these two because portrait is the main technique for fashion photography and also i chose silhouette because i haven't seen silhouette fashion photos. Another idea of photos could be taken in black and white, i feel this is effective because black and white, shows a whole different perspective, a photo in colour could not look good as a photo in black and white, however it could be the same way round, however black and white both connote a retro way of pictures, however the main reasons why i would chose black and white is because Color No Longer Distracts, You'll see light differently compared to colour, it helps emphasis emotions, and finally it helps the audience to focus on the composition. These photos and some facts were found on the Web.

These are more examples of Mario Testino's work, what i like about this photo is the layout, the first photo is A4 however the photo could be published in A3 i believe that it would look more appealing to the audience because it would show the audience what the point of focus is. The one thing i wouldn't be doing i taking photos like that due it being explicit and it would not be appropriate but i like the concept and composition of the photo. I Got these Photos from the Library, the book is called 'Mario Testino' i wouldn't have any issues if i was to take a picture like that because the setting is set in a studio with furniture and i believe i can replicate that. Finally another thing i want to experiment with my final project is to take the photos in black and white, i want to do this because i believe fashion is really effective in black and white this is because black and white has simple effects to the audience for example, black and white makes it simple for the audience to notice what the point of focus is.
I like this image because of its layout, i like the fact that the photographer has taken this image portrait and no landscape, this is because i know that the photographer wants to show the audience everything in this image, for example the clothes the model is wearing and his facial expressions.

Finally the last photographer, is Angus McBean, he is well known for his photography and set design and cult figure associated with surrealism. I like the two images because of its composition and framing, the photo is taken in black and white to show the audience the importance of photography in black and white and shows how effective it could be. I got this from the Library.
The Genre I have chosen for my photography project is Fashion, Fashion photography is a genre of photography which is devoted to displaying clothing and other fashion items. Fashion photography is most often conducted for advertisements or fashion magazines such as Vogue, however mine is going to be educational purposes. I have chosen Fashion because i have a passion in fashion and I believe fashion is something that will never die out, also the professional fashion photographers have inspired me, this is by the images I see, for example Patrick Demarchelier, Patrick Demarchelier is a French fashion photographer. This is an example of his work, this work inspires me because of the composition, the model of in the frame and the photographer leaves minimal extra space, the photo is also taken in black and white, which is effective, this is because it shows an old look, which means that the photo looks more detailed. The photo is also low key, Low-key photography is a genre of photography consisting of shooting dark-coloured scenes, and emphasizing natural or artificial light only on specific areas in the frame. Demarchelier has shot international advertising campaigns for Dior, Louis Vuitton, Celine, TAG Heuer, Chanel, Donna Karan, Yves Saint Laurent, Tommy Hilfiger, Carolina Herrera, Moschino, Vera Wang, Elizabeth Arden, H&M, Sam Edelman, Zara, Max Azria, Express, Longchamp, Blumarine, Lacoste, Ann Taylor, Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. Another reason why I like Demarchelier's work is because of the brands he has worked with, all of these brands are million dollar brands and some even are billion dollar brands, I like the clothes and fashion they produce and it influences me to take pictures like Demarchelier has. Demarchelier has also published his work on Vogue, Vogue is one of the worlds best fashion magazine, (I got that information from Wikipedia) The purpose and concept of my fashion photos is to show the audience what clothes and what people wear in our urban society, I would take portrait and landscape photos, this is because I want to make sure the audience knows what the point of focus is in the photo, for example on a landscape image, the point of focus would be the background and the clothes of the model. Demarchelier would have a Target Audience of the company he works for, for example, he has worked for Christian Dior, and Christian Dior's target audience is a high class women who loves to shop and spend money, but not only that, a women whose style is romantic, feminine and moderate. Also the photos taken would be taken to attract the upper class.
