Evaluation
- What skills have you developed
- What personal weaknesses have you exposed?
- 3 Targets.
The skills i've developed during the 3 weeks, were mainly new skills on photoshop, I've gained new skills on photoshop because of my class mates. I believe this is good because it will be needed for future projects, One main thing i've learnt is new persuasive methods, for example the persuasive methods that I learnt are Humour, Emotional Appeal, Bandwagon, Punishment, Reward, Experts, Testimonial and finally Repetition. I believe all of these persuasive methods are very helpful, because I could use this for future work and it will definitely be needed at Jobs ext. Another thing I've learned was what is Semiotics, I've learnt that Semiotics is split into two which is Denotation and Connotation. Denotation is what you see, and Connotation is the hidden meanings, or hidden messages. Semiotics is used for mainly evaluation, this is really effective as it shows that you understand the deeper meaning of the work or project. During that lesson we had to evaluate a product or company, I had to talk about the denotation and connotation of a McDonalds advert, this helped me understand the meaning behind the advert and who it was meant to appeal to and what the purpose of it was. What I wrote briefly was that, Medium shots were used for dialogue sequences. I knew that the image has been Photoshopped during post production because they have made the fries look like party horns which is really good and effective to the viewer/audience. It connoted that McDonalds was celebrating an anniversary or some type of celebration. I knew this because of the slogan they have had used which was ‘Celebrating 60 Golden Years’ this showed and told the audience that this advert is made for a celebration.
This is the full focus clip, a full focus clip is a creative camera technique in which you change focus during a shot. Usually this means adjusting the focus from one subject to another. I used the Camera to focus and unfocus the image, I used the Manual focus, to adjust the focus area.
This clip is edited footage of a scary film, i edited this from all raw footage, i used premier pro to edit it, one thing i would say i am good at is editing, i personally believe that my editing skills are good but yet still needs improvement, one thing i would like to learn on editing is color correct.

From forming a script I've learnt how to create a character profile and how to structure traditional script. I’ve enjoyed doing this as it’s quite imaginative and creative. I’ve learnt that for every page of screenplay is equal to a minute of screen time, I’ve also learnt that screenplays include sluglines/ scene headings, which is made up of three parts: interior or exterior, location and time, Action, dialogue and characters. I’ve also learnt that the entire script has to be in capitals except from the dialogue. Something that I didn’t know but now know about scriptwriting is that action means what the audience hears and sees. I would like to improve on...

This is an example of my script i have typed out.
Finally my 3 weaknesses i would believe i have got are:
Making a good image on photoshop, i believe i have got enough experience on photoshop so id like to improve on it. Another weakness is remembering key terminology, i tend to forget or get things mixed up for example, i would sometimes get diegetic and nondiegetic mixed up. Finally i would like to improve on my script writing, i need to improve on using all the elements in the correct form.
3 Targets:
Learn how to type of scripts with no problem
Know how to use the should rig properly
Work better in groups.
During another lesson we went through sounds, I previously had learnt about it so it was recap, we went through diegetic and non diegetic sounds, diegetic is sound that is natural and non diegetic sound is sound added on, for example, Music, Sound effects, Explosions and Voice Over would be non diegetic. During that same lesson we went through Mise en Scene, Mise En Scene means what is in front of the camera, for example camera angle, props, makeup ext. Moving onto the next task we had to work in groups to create an advert, ONE Skill I have learnt from this work was that, I found out what other people's skills were and I took it into account, this helped me know who is good at what and who I could learn from.
Cinematography, we had to create a tracking shot, I learnt that a tracking shot is is any shot where the camera moves alongside the object it is recording. In cinematography, the term refers to a shot in which the camera is mounted on a camera dolly that is then placed on rails – like a railroad track. The camera is then pushed along the track while the image is being filmed. However I used a steady cam, this helps the camera stabilise. A skill I learned was that I learned how to use the equipment properly.
This clip is the tracking shot we had filmed, we had used the steady cam for these clips and you can see the recording is very smooth and not shaky.
