Analysis of Coca Cola advert:
This coca cola advert has a very effective way to make the
audience want to buy the product, they do this through many ways. One being the
stylistic codes, these are: Colour, Framing and angle, Movement, Composition or
navigation, Mise en scene, Editing of moving image, Sound. However this is a
still image so some wouldn’t apply. One that is really effective is the Mise en
scene, as seen on the Image there is a lot of dark and plain colours however
red stands out the most being the coke logo, this is effective because it draws
the viewer/audience’s attention to the logo which is placed on the top left
side of the advert and then towards the coke bottle itself. The colour red
could connotes many things however one that everyone would know it being is ‘loving’
or ‘romantic’. The props used in this advert are fairly simple, as seen there
is only a coke bottle and a guitar, they done this because they wanted to keep
it as simple as possible and not complicate the viewer/audience. Another reason
they done this is that they want to send a direct message to the audience and
be as straightforward as possible, the message would imply that ‘Coke is refreshing
no matter where you are and what you’re doing’ In post-production they used
Photoshop to make the lighting and colours more bold so that it's easier for the
audience to know what’s going on and what they see, for example the rain in the
background has been made brighter this is because they want show the audience a
clear image on what’s going on. One main thing they made easier to see is the
text on the bottle, I can see that they made the colour red on the bottle more visible
and bold. Moving onto the camera angle, the type of shot would be a medium close
up shot, Medium shots are used for
dialogue sequences, and they allow the viewer to pick up on the character's movements and gestures. Body
language is important to conveying emotion, and the medium shot remains close enough to
capture that emotion. As in this advert the models body language
is fairly normal, however the photo itself has a shallow depth of field, this
means that the model and the background would be blurred out and the point of
focus would be aimed at the coke bottle, this is probably the most effective because
this makes the audience look at the product straight away.
